A peace of heaven!

Where to hangout in the Netherlands

Everywhere! You can enjoy a glass of wine at the egde of the canals in Amsterdam, it has a special view. When the sun shines (which is a rare occasion) and he gives his final kiss of the day, people accept it by drinking wine, sitting on their terraces. It's like in the movies, catch the moment! You can find something nice to do at the narrow streets of the Hague, or at the famous beach of Scheveningen. You can also visit Utrecht, or Rotterdam. At 'Oude Haven' (original name in dutch) close to the Cubic Houses, or Markthaal you will find a lot to do. Take some pictures, drink something on the run, or buy some dutch cheese in Markthaal. Don't forget to visit museums, which are a lot. Despite Amsterdam, a noisy city, where the night and the day don't have a break, at the other cities, life is more quiet. Maybe is not for nothing that the former Queen, and the King of now, have chosen Wassenaar (close to the Hague) to live.

Ku të kthesh një gotë në Holandë

Gjithandej! Të shijon një gotë verë edhe buzë rrugës pranë kanaleve të famshme të Amsterdamit, është një pamje e rrallë. Kur është diell dhe pak ngrohtë, të rinjtë ulen nëpër këto bordura dhe kalojnë disa momente në harmoni me njëri-tjetrin. Është si nëpër filma, i gëzohen momentit. Por mund të shkosh dhe nëpër rrugicat e ngushta të Hagës, në qendrën e Utrecht-it apo portin e vjetër të Roterdamit (oude haven) ngjitur me shtëpitë kubike, dhe do të marrësh të njëjtën kënaqësi. Ajo që më pëlqen më shumë nga Holanda është se jeta bëhet njëlloj, si në kryeqytet ashtu edhe në të gjitha qytet e tjetra, kudo gjen diçka interesante për të bërë. Madje, ndryshe nga Amsterdami, një kryeqytet i zhurmshëm, ku nata dhe dita nuk njohin ndarje, në pjesët e tjera është më qetësi. Ndoshta jo më kot mbretëresha dikur dhe mbreti i tanishëm kanë zgjedhur për të jetuar  në Wassenaar, pranë Hagës. Këtu vlen shprehja e famshme: “Pranë detit, pranë mbretit!”

Anne Frank, I took the same stairs today

Today, I walked the same stairs you did, Anne Frank. What a feeling, knowing  that I touched the same floor as you did.




I was inside of the place that used to be your room, your space. I saw the attic, it was there, untouched. In every step I took, I could feel like your spirit was still there, watching us.

You know, the world has gone crazy out there. People are fighting each-other. There is such a hate and angry everywhere. There are some bad guys, they don't have the same hair like Adolf Hitler, but they use the same language, and they drink together expensive wines and champagnes. Trump, Wilders, Putin, Erdogan - there all look alike to me, dictators share things... What a shame what they did to you, and what a shame what they are still doing to rest of the world!

And yes, you did Anne Frank! You are a great writer!

Living in the time of cholera
